Holiday Spectacle of Lights Ryde with SRA Florida Coast to Coast chapter
About this time of year, for the last three years, our chapter of Spyder Ryder of America, creates an annual ride originating in Orlando, Florida, labeled the, “Holiday Spectacle of Lights Ryde”. For our “Florida Coast to Coast Chapter”, it is our last chance to ride together in 2013 and personally wish each other a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
This year’s ride included a stop at Yahala Bakery, in Yahala, Florida. This could actually be tagged a dessert stop. They are delicious. It’s a casual country side atmosphere with inside dining, picnic table, outside dining and generally, a Saturday band. It’s a perfect spot to converse, relax and prepare for the next leg of the journey. This could become a regular addition to our holiday ride.
¬†From there, we continue our ride to Mt. Dora, Florida, where we parked our Spyders and enjoyed dinner at PizzAmore. PizzAmore is a small restaurant located near downtown Mt. Dora, serving a variety of Italian dishes, great desserts and I can’t forget to mention the Garlic Knots (can’t emphasize GARLIC enough). So good!!!! We are recognized by the friendly serving staff each year as they try to accommodate, what in the past has been, a larger turnout.
¬†After dinner, it’s time to walk the downtown area and view and enjoy the Christmas light displays that Mt. Dora is notorious for. Many of the businesses go all out with their holiday decorations. Our sightseeing adventure around downtown is our way to conclude a fun day with fellow riders and great friends.
¬†I would be remiss if I didn’t mention our weather for the day. We endured partly cloudy skies, with temperatures in the upper 70’s at the rides start, in the lower 80’s by mid-afternoon and back into the upper 60’s for the ride home that evening. Oh, the things we have to endure here in Florida.
