The ”Lorrains des 3 Frontières” Team

Many Spyder groups exist all over France representing differents regions. These groups organise rides and activities and have fun socialisingand riding together. One of these groups is Les Lorrains des 3 frontières. Here is a short article about their activities.


The “Lorrains des 3 frontières” (borders) held a rally on the Great War of 1914-1918 on September 14th, 2013.


Meeting at Mont Sec (first village liberated by the Americans in 1918) with a small coffee with buns made ​​by our friend Thomas. Distribution of envelopes and explanations on the course of the day and departure towards 6 questions.

With a well-deserved break, we have lunch at the “restaurant du Centre”.

At 2:00 p.m., the second part of the day begins: riding towards Montfaucon d’Argonne.

Then, we head for Romagna, passing through the largest American cemetery in Europe where 14,246 soldiers are buried. (Registered picture)

Our last site of the day: Vauquois (renowned place of the mines warfare, village completely disappeared).

In what year did the first mine explode?

On May 14th, 1916 at 4:10 p.m. (60 tons of dynamite and 539 explosions during these four years).

Over a meal, diplomas are given to the 26 participants of this day filled with history and yes, Claude is still found in the rain.
